How to Fix Pending or Rejected GMB Phone Number in India (2026 Guide)

Why Google Rejects Phone Numbers on GMB in India

Over 80% of Indian local business owners encounter the dreaded "Phone number is under review" or "Your edit was not approved" message. Google introduced strict verification parameters specifically for the Indian subcontinent to combat unauthorized call forwarding and lead scraping.

3 Steps to Fix Your GMB Phone Number

Step 1: Match Your Telecom Billing Statement

Ensure the registered business name and physical shop address on your Airtel, Jio, or Vi postpaid/broadband bill match your Google Business Profile name and address word-for-word.

Step 2: Clear Storefront Signage Photography

Google's automated computer vision scans your profile photos. Upload high-resolution daytime photos showing your physical shop board with the target 10-digit mobile number painted or printed clearly.

Step 3: Government MSME / GST Document Escalation

Submit a formal manual escalation ticket to Google Business Profile Support with your GST certificate, Udyam registration, and utility bill attached.
